چکیده

We present a method for the integration of illumina tion constraints within a deformable model framework These constraints are incorporated as nonlinear holo nomic constraints in the Lagrange equations of motion governing the deformation of the model For improved numerical performance we employ the Baumgarte sta bilization method Our methodology is general and can be used for a broad range of illumination constraints This approach avoids commonly used approximations in shape from shading such as linearization and the use of partial di erential equations which require ini tial boundary conditions Furthermore global and lo cal parameterizations of the deformable models allow an improved estimation of shape from shading We demonstrate this improvement over previously used ap proaches through a series of experiments on standard ized sets of real and synthetic data

Incorporating Illumination Constraints in Deformable

We present a method for the integration of illumination constraints within a deformable model framework. These constraints are incorporated as nonlinear holo-nomic constraints in the Lagrange equations of motion governing the deformation of the model. For improved numerical performance we employ the Baumgarte stabilization method. Our methodology is general and can be used for a broad range of ...

Incorporating Illumination Constraints in Deformable Models for Shape from Shading and Light Direction Estimation

In this paper we present a method for the integration of nonlinear holonomic constraints in deformable models and its application to the problems of shape and illuminant direction estimation from shading. Experimental results demonstrate that our method performs better than previous Shape from Shading algorithms applied to images of Lambertian objects under known illumination. It is also more g...

An Approximate Image-Space Approach for Real-Time Rendering of Deformable Translucent Objects

Although lots of works have been engaged in interactive and realistic rendering of translucent materials, efficient processing for deformable models remains a challenging problem. In this paper we introduce an approximate image-space approach for real-time rendering of deformable translucent models by taking account of diffuse multiple sub-surface scattering. We decompose the process into two s...

Distance Maps: a Robust Illumination Preprocessing for Active Appearance Models

Methods of deformable appearance models are useful for realistically modelling shapes and textures of visual objects for reconstruction. A first application can be the fine analysis of face gestures and expressions from videos, as deformable appearance models make it possible to automatically and robustly locate several points of interest in face images. That opens development prospects of tech...

A Hybrid 3D Colon Segmentation Method Using Modified Geometric Deformable Models

Introduction: Nowadays virtual colonoscopy has become a reliable and efficient method of detecting primary stages of colon cancer such as polyp detection. One of the most important and crucial stages of virtual colonoscopy is colon segmentation because an incorrect segmentation may lead to a misdiagnosis.  Materials and Methods: In this work, a hybrid method based on Geometric Deformable Models...
